Letter to Faculty and Administration
Dear colleagues,
We’ve decided to take on an exciting challenge this school year – to minimise (and hopefully eliminate) our use of single-use plastics (SUP) on campus.
Why are we doing this? The attached Introduction – The Challenge [Attach information sheet to this letter] outlines the problem and explains why we are taking on this challenge.
What does this mean? We will soon be evaluating the types and amounts of plastic we are using as a school community. This on-campus audit will help narrow down and identify the focus for this project. To complete this audit, we will be asking everyone in the school community to participate.
We are holding a school community meeting to answer your questions, hear your ideas and your suggestions. [Enter date and time]. [Guidance for this town hall can be found in Module 2.2: GUIDED COMMUNITY MEETING].
Technical services are kindly asked to help with the audits and data collection while we trial different approaches to cut campus plastic consumption. Your knowledge and experience in waste management and identifying more efficient products and processes would also be most appreciated while students carry out waste management capacity audits.
Faculty are encouraged to test out different curricula points relevant to the plastic pollution issue. Furthermore, leadership and direction within the new EcoCrew is encouraged. We need support from all levels of Faculty and Administration – if you are interested, please send an email to [enter PFC coordinator email here].
